Bibliotherapy
– reading therapeutically relevant material
in books, articles, poetry, websites, etc.
and discussing how the issues described pertain
to the readers and their personal lives or
traumatic situations. This means of therapy
can be a helpful addendum to the healing process.
Sometimes
other people’s words can be very useful
and helpful in describing how you feel. Sometimes
other people’s work can teach you things
you need to know to explain some of the difficulties
you are experiencing. There are usually so
many different pieces to the puzzle that we
all need to learn from each other. In our
experience, no one “thing” is
the “be all and end all” to the
problems associated with trauma and dissociation.
