Hello,
Seasons Greetings! How are you? Are you making it ok through this holiday season? I do wish the best for you during this time. Therapy Tips And, while you may have lovely Christmas gifts to give others, I hope you can find a creative way to give yourself something really meaningful – something that nobody else would think of – something that you would enjoy within yourself each time you think of it. I know you deserve something pleasant – something just for you! You’ve worked hard this year – give yourself a treat! Also, I want to encourage everybody that is DID/MPD to give something nice or fun to his or her child parts inside. These kids are so used to trauma and yuck, that it would be really cool for them to have something they would truly enjoy this Christmas. These don’t have to be expensive gifts – for example, how about giving time to read a story together, or to color for a while, or to watch their favorite television program, or buy a new pair of socks in their favorite color? There are LOTS of ways to help the child parts feel wanted and accepted. Ask inside to see what your kid parts think would be fun for them! Website Updates I am so pleased to tell you that there was an excellent response from our first newsletter and we have some new additions to announce. Have a look at the Art Room and the Poetry section – some survivors have sent in some of their excellent creative work. I think each piece is really impressive -- let me know what you think! If you have contributions of your own, we would be glad to include them. And as always, your comments, ideas, and creative works are certainly welcome. Here’s a special thank you to all of you that have sent in a survey. Your responses were greatly appreciated and we will get back with each of you about the results as we get our calculations figured. We are still accepting more survey responses, so any of you that are interested in submitting one, there is still plenty of time to do so. What’s New? Here’s another exciting piece of news: I am just about to finish with the recording of my first CD!!! This is primarily a piano instrumental CD with all the music having been composed by myself - except for one interesting exception. So far, I have gotten some wonderful feedback on the powerful emotions expressed in the music. I hope it can be a soothing comfort for many of you. There are sound clips on the website for you to check out a few of the songs – just go to www.AbuseConsultants.com, Art Room, Music section. Holiday Support I know that this is a difficult time of year for many trauma survivors – I hope that you have the support you need to get through the holiday season. If not, please remember that AbuseConsultants.com is there for you when your therapist, friends, family, or support folks are busy, or out of town, or gone to their own holiday gatherings. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and may 2003 be filled with good times, peace, and comfort for you all. Kathy
