| Welcome
to the Writing Room
Writing is an important way to explore your
own thoughts and ideas. It is a way to process
difficult information, a way to discover hidden
or subconscious information, and a way to
celebrate exciting information. Writing is
an expression of you, of who you are, and
what you think. Writing is good and it improves
your health.
For
these reasons and more, we have included a
specific section dedicated to writing, journaling,
typing, or any other form of written expression
available.
Healing
from trauma and the therapeutic process can
be very grueling in the sense that they consume
so much of your time, thoughts, and energy.
Many people need to process and re-process
their session content both before and after
a session. Having people to talk with is great,
but people are not always readily available,
nor are “people” always the best
or most realistic option. Learning to process
your personal struggles with yourself, and
with your internal system, are very important
parts of the healing process. The more you
can understand on your own, with your own
internal communication, the quicker your healing
process occurs. Self communication is very
important for personal growth.
Putting
your thoughts into words, describing your
personal situation, and asking questions to
a therapist in a clinical
consultation is only one of the writing
options provided by AbuseConsultants.com.
Much
of this section is provided as an option for
you to do personal work and to provide options
for self expression. Many people have been
blocked from writing, so learning to have
“permission” to write may take
practice. In the meantime, we have provided
some ideas for you to consider. Start anywhere
you can – wherever it feels the safest
for you:
Journaling and writing exercises
Poetry, stories, and creative writings
